The pattern on the Blue Willow plates looks Chinese, but was first made in England. Many English designers copied Chinese plate designs. The Blue Willow plate design is one of the best known designs in the world. The plate tells a story. The story is about a rich man names Tso Ling. The house on the plate represents his home. He had a beautiful daughter named Kwang-se. She was the promised bride of an old wealthy man. She fell in love with Chang, her father's clerk. Chang and Kwang-se eloped and Kwang-se's father was going to have them killed. The gods turned them into turtle doves before Kwang-se's father could have them killed. The two turtle doves are on the top of the plate. The plates for their age are in very good condition and appear to have either sat in the china cabinet or were lightly used. They all have the same backstamp and potter markings and one has a few more flea bits around the edge but nothing unusual for their age. No cracks or major chips. Measures: 7 5/8”Backstamp: Petrus Regout - Maastricht Holland, and potter marking "7 1/4 > K"Petrus Regout founded his glass and pottery factory in Maastricht in 1834 and became one of the most important Dutch table ware producers in the latter half of the 19th century until WWII.Since 1890 the text Made in Holland was added to the factory logo and in 1899 the factory was
