Check out my other items !This auction is for a vintage set of nickel-plated Police Department Wrist Restraints . They were known as “come alongs” or “nippers”. Most police departments banned their use in the 1960's. They come with the leather holster that attaches to the gun belt. A patrolman walking a beat would slip these over a prisoner's wrist and twist the chain. The pain was intense and the prisoner had no choice but to follow the policeman, hence the word come-alongs. The policeman would walk the prisoner to the stationhouse with the come-alongs in place. This piece of scarce police equipment history is in excellent condition. These wrist restraints were made in Germany. The chain is 8 inches long. Excluding the chain, there is some surface rust spots from storage on the handles. The leather holder / holster is excellent. 3 Photos appear below this description Shipping is $3.25, higher outside the United States. Paypal only .
