MITCHELL, JUNE 17, 1940, IN PONCA CITY OKLAHOMA, BY THE PONCA INDIANS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS APPOINTMENT AS AN HONORARY CHIEF OF THEIR TRIBE WITH THE NAME "CHIEF STANDING BIRD". HE WAS, AT THAT TIME, NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF AMERICAN BUSINESS CLUBS, WHICH WAS THEN ITS NATIONAL CONVENTION IN ENID, OKLAHOMA".
