Absolutely beautiful, highest quality porcelain figurine.by the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory, Leningrad, circa 1960s, marked under base with blue overglaze factory Cyrillic monogram 'LFZ' for the Domestic Market. Rare. The letter that looks like an 'A' is, in fact the Cyrillic alphabet version of 'L' (for Lomonosov), 'F'-means-farfor ----(porcelain) 'Z' means zavod----(factory) Other Markings (Probably Decorator) The typical sculptures from this factory are easily recognized by their smooth, rounded appearance. They are hand-painted. The Lomonosov Porcelain company is still active, but collectors prefer the earlier pieces. The back-stamp is different .Twenty years ago, Russia underwent a great deal of internal strife, and the export of ceramics stopped. When the goods began to arrive once more, the backstamp had changed - where once the mark had read'' LFZ'' in blue , or 'LFZ' + 'Made in USSR' in red, it now read 'LFZ' +'Made in Russia'. The area I marked with a check mark (see picture) looks like it may have been glued back, since you can see a slight suture around the arm, but it's barely visible. The rest of the figure is perfectly mint.
