Meissen? - Vintage Porcelain Victorian Couple Figurines I found these recently at a garage sale given by an older lady who had decided to get rid of some of her "junk". I asked her how long she had owned them & if she knew w she got them. She said she had owned them about 40 years but she couldn't remember w she had got them. I decided to go ahead and buy them because even if they weren't Meissen, they were still beautiful. Maybe someone who knows about Meissen can tell me for sure. I know t are a lot of fakes on the market & I don't want to knowingly deceive anyone, so whatever information I receive I will acknowledge in this listing. They are both approximately 6 1/2" tall with a base of about 3 1/4" X 2 1/4". They appear to be dancing or preparing to dance. The lady is wearing a white underskirt with a fushia & lilac floral print, trimmed in gold. Her overskirt is yellow, fading to white with a very pretty aqua lining. Her bodice is a deep fushia with 3/4 length sleeves trimmed with ruffles at her sleeves & neckline. In addition, she has gold trimmed ruffles around the hem of her underskirt & more ruffles cascading down the split opening to her overskirt & hem. She is wearing a white bonnet trimmed in gold & gold shoes. The gentleman is dressed in white knee pants with green & gold stripes and a white ruffled shirt with a rose print trimmed in gold. His overcoat is white with a floral print, gold trimmed ruffles and a fushia lining. He is wear a white tri-cap trimmed in gold, white stockings and gold shoes. They are both standing on a white base with thin gold trimming. Both pieces are in great condition with the exception of a tiny (about 1/16th of an inch - see photo #12) gold leaf broken off the flower at the gentleman's foot. In fact, I didn't even notice it until I started running my fingers along every edge checking for breaks or chips. This is the only chip or break I found. I have tried to describe this item to the best of my ability and with the knowledge I possess. If you have additional questions and/or corrections about what I've described, I would be most appreciative & share your comments with all interested bidders.
