Vintage Pressed Glass Cruet. This is a beautiful, heavy glass cruet that looks like it could be either a Duncan and Miller, circa 1895, Grated Diamond and Sunburst pattern, or it could be a Dorflinger, circa 1886, in the strawberry-diamond and fan pattern, or something else, (but it is an old one!). The former pattern can be viewed in A.Revi's 1964 book on American Pattern Glass pg.145; the latter on p. 1008 of the book, American Glass by Marvin Schwartz, 1972. Both patterns are very similar. Duncan and Miller operated from 1874-1955; Dorflinger 1881-1921. This piece is not marked, (as most of the old ones are not), and I have not found a picture of this particular cruet, just the two patterns on other items. Of the two, it most resembles the bottom portion of the Dorflinger vase that is shown in the Schwartz book, but you can decide for yourself. The cruet stopper and handle have some little bubbles in the glass; and there is one tiny fleabite off bottom end of stopper, which is not visible since it fits down into the bottle. A bit of wear around the bottom rim as is expected of older glass. There are also waves in the bottom of the glass, typical of old glass. It measures about 8 inches high by 4 inches wide. A very elegant piece to add to your collection no matter who made it!
