VINTAGE PRETTY 1937 ROSEVILLE POTTERY 7" IXIA VASE

According to our Roseville book, this pattern had some significance during the latter years of the Depression. The country was coming out of the depths of the worst economic disaster in its history. Roseville was doing well and the brightness and grace of this pattern reflected the robust feeling in the United States and the Roseville Company. The Ixia flowers on the vase are small and delicate and seem to be waving in a light breeze. The vase is a yellow color that blends into a salmon color at the bottom. The small flowers are a pink in color and a faint green is shown for leaves. One side has a bouquet of four flowers and three buds and the other has nine flowers and 2 buds. The bottom is incised with Roseville and the numbers 855-7. The vase is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks or other damage. T is a small pin-sized block spot on the top of one of the (for lack of a better term) handles that appears to be a bubble pop in the glaze, but no damage and no chips. The vase measures 7 3/8 inches tall, 2 3/4 inches across the top and 3 1/4 inches across the bottom and 5 1/2 inches across the widest part of the vase.
