High end chip collectors know the name T.R. King. They were a manufacturer of gaming products for casinos and home use from the early 1920's until 2006. Paul Endy Sr was the co-owner of TR King from the 50's to 70's. Paul's son, Paul Jr worked for his father prior to starting his own company, Paulson. This set of TRKing chips was manufactured for home use sometime in the mid 1970's. This claim is based on the label on the chip box. The company moved to the Pico location in 1977. The address label covering the printed box label indicates that this set was made shortly after the move. The set is hot stamped LA. I believe this to be the initials of the original owner. I purchased the set from his nephew. The seller indicated that his uncle was a Vietnam vet and loved to play poker. They are on the small crown (scrown) mold. The breakdown is as follows: 199 white 100 blue 100 red 100 yellow with pink edgespots. There is some red color transfer on the white chips. It is possible that this can be removed if desired. I have done nothing to remove it. Aside from the color transfer, I would classify these chips as near mint. They are all sharp and stack like bricks. Enjoy a great set of vintage chips.
