Fantastic Extra Wide Weiss Clamper Hello, for your consideration is this wonderful Extra wide Rhinestone Clamper. The stones are extra clear and bright. The hinge is springy and tight and t are no chips nicks or damage to the piece. T is 1 dead flat stone but with all this sparkle going on it is near impossible to notice. This is a super wide clamper and it measures more than 1 1/2" tall (1 9/16" to be exact.) Although unsigned I believe this is Weiss. I spoke to a very interesting vintage jewelry dealer who actually worked for Trafari in the 60's and he gave me some very interesting information on Weiss. is what he said: Weiss distributed their items to many different stores. They signed the pieces they sold to the higher end and bigger stores. They made the exact same pieces with unsigned hinges to sell to the smaller stores which they charged less for. I think this makes perfect sense as when you hold some signed and unsigned pieces that are identical next to one another you simply cannot see any difference. I have found that these Wide clampers are becoming increasingly more difficult to find, and expensive too! T actually was one one Ruby Lane the dealer sold for 550.
