From Cheyenne, Wyoming estate w/ quite a few UP railroad items [its not UP marked] VINTAGE [Probable] UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD 64" LONG WOOD TRACK [side to side] SUPERELEVATION GAUGE -- has the initials "AD" stamped in the wood @ the gauge end ~~ looks like it was shop made w/ factory made cast iron components ~~ the adjustable measuring end has a stylized pine tree trade mark and "1536" or "1586" ~~ the tail end protector part has the number "1585" [the heavy duty cast iron components were probably sold as a set & put together w/ the board in the RR shop] ~~ has Stanley bubble level that works in the center ~~ the up/down measurement part moves freely & the locking thumbscrew secures the sliding part - if this gauge could tell us what its seen & where it been!!! see: /Gauges/index.asp [one being sold new today]
see: /Museum/Ephemera/track_level.html [museum example]
