Vintage Randall Made Knife
Model #3-6 "Hunter" 6-1/8" Tool Steel Blade Single Nickel Silver Hilt Seven Spacers Straight Ivory Handle w/Escutcheon Plate Johnson Roughback Sheath Correctly Stamped 3 6 on Reverse Two Tone Gray Sharpening Stone w/Yellow Print Combination Crystolon - Made In U.S. of A Randall Made Knives Carry Case Randall Care Sheet w/Black Print Excellent Original Condition My summary: an older, very nice looking Randall model 3 "Hunter" and original Johnson Roughback sheath for consideration. This is a really neat knife / sheath combination -- 's a detailed description of the package: Randall model 3 with a 6-1/8" tool steel blade, single nickel silver hilt, 7 spacers, and a straight ivory handle with escutcheon plate. The blade exhibits very fine scratches (minimal) from insertion and light carbon spots near the tip on the logo side of the blade. The knife has not been shop cleaned -- under magnification, the Randall stamp is crisp and clean. (see close up photos) The original grind lines are gorgeous and are at a slight angle -- typical of early production. The nickel hilt is in beautiful shape with minimal handling marks -- the 7 spacers between the hilt and ivory handle are tight and without cracks or gaps. The ivory handle is fitted with an escutcheon plate and engraved with the initials "R.O.S.". As is clearly visible, the ivory handle has cracked from the hilt back to the butt. It appears stable -- no one has messed with it or tried to fill / repair it. The sheath is a Johnson roughback with a two tone gray sharpening stone (yellow print) in the pouch: "Combination Crystolon Made In U. S. of A." The sheath has the Randall Made Knives stamp on the back along with 3 6 which designates model number and blade length. The sheath exhibits no carry wear -- light spotting on the belt loop front and rear. The knife has been stored in the sheath and has a line at the throat and light lines on the keeper strap. The roughback portion of the sheath looks new -- both snaps function perfectly. Overall, both the knife and sheath appear well cared for and are in fine shape. As photographed, both the Randall carry case and care / instruction sheet are included. T's little else to say about this one -- it's an extremely neat piece in original condition that I'm sure would fit well in to many Randall collections. Good luck.
