A fabulous figural fern-type pin stamped MING'S . This was discovered while sifting through my grandmother's personal collection. Grandmother had impeccable taste and collected beautiful pieces of art, ceramics, and jewelry. After doing some research, it appears this pin is highly collectable and in fantastic condition. I am NOT a vintage jewelry expert, but looks like the "Fern Leaf" Design. We are not going to polish this pin made of Sterling Silver as the new owner can decide on how to display this piece. The natural aged patina is truly gorgeous! MING'S Inc., which has made and sold classic Hawaiian motif and Oriental jewelry for 60 years, closed its doors in Honolulu and Hilo. When the news spread via word-of-mouth, crowds jammed into the downtown Honolulu store at 808 Fort Street Mall to take advantage of prices reduced up to 60 percent. Ming's fame with jewelry collectors in Hawaii and on the mainland was due to the late artist Wook Moon, who designed many pieces. Classic pieces made in the 1940s included earrings, pins and necklaces in the shape of anthuriums, birds of paradise, hibiscus, orchids and pikake. Many of these ornaments were made of delicately carved ivory and silver.
