LOT MIXED: Cherry Red and Butterscotch / Apple Juice Vintage Celluloid / Lucite & Bakelite flatware 36 PIECES!!!!
Circa 1930s-40s, the design of this fabulous Bakelite flatware mixed lot closely resembles the typical design of Rostfrei Bakelite sets of the same era. They are two-toned, half Bakelite and half Lucite/Celluloid. The red portion is luscious translucent deep cherry red Lucite/Celluloid with an amber color Bakelite (?) for the other portion and it looks like the apple juice Bakelite. SEE SLIDESHOW ABOVE Also three "misfits" of two amber yellow Bakelite thin steak (?) knives and an amber yellow spoon. Perfect opportunity to fill in missing utensils in your set! Then just resell what you don't need!! All used, regular wear and tear on the stainless steel. Some marked with what looks like two lions rearing up above a crest over the words "Stainless Steel" - printed, a couple with a windmill logo and the "Stainless Steel" printing and some with no "brand" marking and only "Stainless Steel" printed on the back. The majority are translucent, but a few have become opaque (aging?) and are not as clear in the red. is the breakdown of the 25 pieces: 11 KNIVES: 6 good knives & 5 opaque 8 FORKS: 5 good forks & 3 opaque 7 TEASPOONS: 5 good teaspoons & 2 opaque 7 SOUP SPOONS: 6 good soup spoons & 1 opaque 2 yellow matching thin steak knives 1 yellow soup spoon Flat Shipping Rate of $8.90 Priority Mail. Insurance optional. Email for more images... I GOT AN EMAIL FROM A POTENTIAL BIDDER ASKING IF I TESTED TO SEE IF THIS IS "REAL" BAKELITE. I LEARNED HOW TO DO THAT, BUT MUST BE HONEST AND SAY THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE IT TO BE TRUE BAKELITE - I BELIEVE WE DID THE TEST PROPERLY WITH 409 BUT NO YELLOW APPEARED ON THE Q-TIP AFTER RUBBING THE BUTTERSCOTCH AREA OF A SPOON. I WAS UNAWARE THAT T IS A POSSIBILITY THAT SOMETHING CAN LOOK LIKE BAKELITE AND NOT BE BAKELITE!!!
