Absolutely stunning Mexican Art Deco 40's Maya de Mexico pendant suspended from large linked chain. Each twisted chain link is over 2cm long, and the chain is 28cm (or 11") long with a simple closed hook clasp. The pendant measures 8 x 6cm (3 x 2 3/8"); the stone is held and surrounded by the setting and large headdress, worked in wire, oxidization, and metal applique. This is a piece that Frida Kahlo would have dreamed of, coveted and worn. Maya de Mexico boutiques in south of the border cities and towns were destination shopping in the forties and fifties for many American women struck by her sense of style, and eager to adapt it to their own. Perfect for any season, and especially for the fearless fashionista! Try it over a tunic, swimwear, a soft and full peasant blouse, and especially over your summer tan.
