Vintage Rococo Style Schmidt 8 Day Striking Wind up Clock with Pendulum This is a vintage wind up German Mantle or shelf clock with pendulum in cast metal or bronze gilded with gold , in a very decorative case as shown. A beautiful little working clock that sounds a clear bell on the half hour and on the hour, is working and keeping good time. The face is beautifully designed with black numerals on a white background inset into the gold finished face. The dial is signed Schmidt 8 day German. One unusual feature is that this clock has only one wind up spring yet it is time and strikes the hour. Usually thee are two springs for striking clocks, great german ingenuity. The case is designed rococo sty;e ornate and gilded and in excellent condition. The case is decorated and finished on the front and on the back. The pendulum bob is visible through a window in the lower front of the case. Beautiful little clock standing 8" high, 5" wide at base and 2" deep. A lovely Valentines gift.....
