ALVA Museum Replica Gold Coin of Vespasian and the Goddess of Fate (Fortuna) Dangle Earrings .The earrings are marked "Alva" and come with the original gift box and paperwork.The earrings measures 5/8 inches in diameter and 1 1/2" length.The earrings have been well-maintained and cared for over the years. They are in excellent vintage condition.We also have for sale the matching Bracelet and Clip On Earrings in this style.Coin of Vespasian.Roman, 69-79 A.D.The obverse side of this coin depicts the Emperor Titus Flavius Vespasianus wearing a laurel wreath. Vespasian was an earthly, plain-spoken soldier and able general. He was acclaimed emperor by his troops, thereby putting an end to an anarchic period when four emperors ruled in a period of one year. Vespasian established stability by founding the Flavian dynasty. A temple to Vespasian was erected in Pompeii by the citizens, who were eager, perhaps, to be in favor with the new Emperor. Vespasian died in 79 A.D. and was succeeded by his son Titus.On the reverse side is shown the goddess Fortuna. She holds the cornucopia in her left hand and steers the Ship of Fate with her right. It was said that a statuette of the goddess was always kept in the sleeping quarters of the Roman emperors.
