Vintage Royal Crown Derby Cabinet Plate - Horse & Hounds - D Lakin Another plate and another famous factory. This wonderful hand painted, hunting scene, cabinet plate is from the World renowned Royal Crown Derby factory. Measuring approximately 26cm in diameter this porcelain piece features a scalloped edge, enhanced with rich gilding and turquoise spotting. The central, hand painted, theme is of a lone horseman with two hounds, to a countryside setting. To the bottom right of the scene is the name D Lakin, I assume this was the decorator of the piece. The plate carries a printed mark to its base, as per additional image. Again, I am no authority on Royal Crown Derby but I suspect this is a piece from around the 1940's, I am sure the collectors will narrow it down further. The piece is in excellent overall condition and actually close to mint condition. The colours are still bright and clear, the gilding completely intact, an extremely good example.You do not have to be a Derby authority to recognise quality and this has that in heaps, just as you would expect from a World respected factory, it is superb. The subject matter contains no hunted animals so it should hopefully not be offensive to anybody.
