VINTAGE 1951+ Royal Winton OLD COTTAGE CHINTZ 3-piece JAM POT SET. Although the lid has been repaired, it's not obvious when the set's on display. The pot's in very good condition and the base is in excellent condition, so if you've been looking for 1 or more replacement pieces for your own jam pot set, this auction may be perfect for you! The pot is 2-1/2" tall and 2-3/4" square, the base is 4-3/8" square and the lid is 2-7/8" square; assembled, the set is 3-3/4" tall. Both pieces have a "Royal Winton Grimwades Made in England - A" backstamp, "Old Cottage Chintz" stamped in blue and pattern number 9632 written in gold; as expected, the lid is unmarked. The green circular stamp on the pot is earlier (1943+) than the black script stamp on the base (1951+), although as far as I know these pieces have always been together as a set. Old Cottage Chintz was introduced c1928 and made until 1969. If you look very closely, t's a slight amount of crazing on the chintz of the base and lid, and even less visible crazing on the sides of the pot. T's a normal amount of light wear to the gold trim on the top edge of the pot from contact with the lid. Otherwise the gold trim is in excellent condition throughout the set. T is no damage to the base or pot, and the chintz looks great on both those pieces. One corner of the lid was broken off into 2 pieces and glued back together at some point in time. This was an amateur repair (see pics 9, 10 and 11), but overall it actually looks quite OK when the set's on display. T's a small discolored chip on the top that's surprisingly difficult to notice (it's on the inside edge of the indentation for the jam spoon), and t's also some discoloration beginning along one of the repaired breaks. The finial and outside edges look just fine, though, so the repaired lid is suitable enough for most display purposes.A cute jam pot set at a bargain price -- enjoy! :-) I'm always happy to combine your multiple purchases to save on shipping costs.
