A precious and collectible souvenir of the Soviet/US Space Race Part of the Soviet domestic national pride, collected by my father, an international news editor with a Russian background. This vintage RUSSIAN SPUTNIK SPACE SOUVENIR made in 1957 commemorates the SPUTNIK PROGRAM. THE DATE 04.10.1957 IS STAMPED ON THE complete model. It commemorates the first major launch. THE model is in fabulous CONDITION. THE SPUTNIK MINIATURE ON THE TOP IS removable. US quarter is pictured near the model for scale. The box has one very minor crease on the cover. Even the packing paper is intact on this terrific collectible, which is more than 50 years old.
