Up for auction is a vintage solid brass umbrella stand decorated with a hammered design featuring a group of men & women bidding farewell to friends. Also pictured in the design are a table & chairs, a brick wall, a lattice window, tall branching trees, a wooden barrel and a frolicking dog. Ocean waves can be seen in the background. Also included is the stand's tin insert which is usually missing. This beautiful stand is made from a sheet of brass which was joined with one seam in back (see picture). The top and bottom flange were added. It measures a little over 19" high X 8" in diameter and is in excellent condition with some patches of discoloration. The pictures were taken in a sunny location which accentuated these areas and under typical interior lighting conditions they would probably go unnoticed. No cracks, holes or broken/dented pieces! Thanks to the 4 ¼" tall insert the stand's interior is also in excellent condition. The insert shows some evidence of rust and numerous tiny pin-point dents w umbrella tips have rested. No holes, cracks or breaks on this piece either.Although I could fine no mark, I believe this stand was made in England. It will make a nice addition to your décor especially on a rainy day!
