Cleaning out the 400 square foot basement and closets. Thanks to those of you checking back on my auctions and bidding on my stuff! [Sidenote: so far I have listed about 1/1000 of the wonderful things I have, so check back often. It takes me forever to list items because I like to take plenty of pics and post detailed information. At this rate I will be done in 2010]. Presenting the beautiful vintage Schrade-Walden "Utility Hunter" fixed-blade knife. Comes with an original vintage sheath hallmarked "Stern San Jose." IMHO that is a pretty rare sheath. Back in the 1950s when this was made, the knife itself was often mistaken for and called a "pilot's survival knife." Out of the sheath it does have a military look to it. But it was NOT military. This Schrade Walden was first sold to the public in 1959. Back then it sold for $1.60, which is $14 in today's dollars. Quite a deal considering the quality of the knife. The target customers were weekend hunters, scouts, fishermen, campers and outdoorsmen. Knife has a leather handle and quality carbon steel blade, both in good condition. Blade has a sharp edge without nicks. Has red spacers in the leather handle and an aluminum pommel pinned in place. Blade guard is aluminum.
