Vintage Schwinn Stingray Bicycle Serial number is stamped on left dropout. D420866. I believe this is a 1964. Overall bicycle is in great condition for its age. Frame: Frame has normal age wear, slight nicks and scratches throughout but nothing major. Left side front fork has 3 spots of wear (see photo). Left-side dart on front fork has worn away at the bottom tip, but most of the dart is still visible. Right-side dart has bottom half worn away. Handlebars and Seat: Handlebars have light surface rust. Schwinn Approved is stamped on the handgrips. Handgrips have some dirt on them and normal wear to the ends. Seat has a Persons plate on the back. Top of seat has rips which have been repaired with red duct tape. Also has some rips on the bottom edge, as well as some dirt and age. Seat post has surface rust. Sissy bar has surface rust. Chrome Parts: Slight surface rust to all chrome parts, but most of this should clean off very easily. I wiped a couple spots with a Brillo pad and it brought back the shine very quickly. A couple photos show the difference between w I cleaned and w it still needs to be cleaned. Front and rear tips of the front fender are very straight. Back tip of rear fender is very straight. Rear fender has a small ripple on the right side. This is w I cleaned it up a little to better show the ripple. Rear fender has a spot of rust on left side that is about 3/8 of an inch long. Rear fender has an STP sticker on the end. Otherwise the fenders just have some surface rust that should clean off easily. Rims: Front rim has Schwinn Tubular stamped into it. Front rim has one major spot of rust on right side, but its just a thick build up of rust that isn't compromising the rim. All other rust is surface rust that should clean off easily. Rear rim has slight dent to left side. Rear rim has very, very slight ding on the right side. I only mention this to give the best picture of the bicycle. Surface rust is same as front rim. Tires: Front tire is a Schwinn Westwind. It has cracking from age. Rear tire is a Schwinn Sting-Ray Slik. I can find no cracking on it. I only inspected it on the rim on the bicycle. T are 2 spots of damage on the right side sidewall of the tire. One is 1/4" long, the other is 1/2" long. I do not believe either goes all the way through the tire.This is an extremely cool tire and if it is to be displayed I would not consider these major issues. Drivetrain: Pedals have normal age wear to them.The bike pedals forward well and the coaster brakes work. This is a great bike and its actually a little hard to let it go. Its also hard not to clean it up, but I've left it as is for the future owner to clean as they desire.
