This is a Diesel Locomotive built in the 1960's/70's by my friend Donald Johnson. Outside of central Iowa his name may not mean much in the model building circles, but Donald was a special kind of an early modeler. Don was a B17 pilot and served durning WW2, he started modeling in HO after he returned home from Europe, and mostly built kits with added details or kit bashed Varney-Mantuna and Bowser locomotives and cars, he later purchased a UniMat and air brush and started to build and custom paint scratch built Steam Locomotive and Diesel Engines. He became known around the midwest for his kit bashed and scratch-built brass steam locomotives and won many local, regional and master builder awards. Don passed away a few years ago and I bought several of the special locomotives from his collection with the hopes of someday building my own pike. Well age and poor eye sight has shown me that HO modeling is beyond my ability and I have decided to sell the special locomotives that Don built. Most of the locomotives I will list were built in the 1960's/70's & 80's, Offered here for no reserve auction is a scratch-built, custom painted Union Pacific City of Denver A&B unit diesel locomotive set with added details, this set is very heavy, at 3 lbs, I am not sure what Don used in the building of these units to make them so heavy but I am fairly read more
