Here we have Seiko's very first solar powered LCD watch; the A156-5009, this model was manufactured in november 1978 The case is in a very good shape, this case has no polished parts and has a great brush on its sides an top with minor signs of usage, The pushers are in excellent shape, The alarm roster with 'Seiko' is in a perfect shape, The crystal has some scratches, nevertheless in a good shape, The original bracelet has all spare links and is suitable for most wrist sizes, Featuring: Time Day and date Loud alarm Chronograph Light I have a series of NOS (new old stock) original Maxell XR11630W batteries (original to this model) and tested 3 of them in this watch. It turns out all thee of these tested samples have lost their power through the years (these are 30+ years old), they did charge but not well enough after half a day in the sun. These original Maxell batteries are a true rarity and hard to find (if you do they are old stock and véry expensive). I decided to put a small strip of plastic between the solar panel and the movement which is very easy removable. This way this watch is usable with common Seiko battery cells. I installed a common high quality Seiko battery cell which will give juice to this watch for 5 years. I will, however, deliver the original Maxell rechargeable battery with the watch.
