This very handsome fountain pen was produced in England in the late 1940s by a company that specialised in new materials. This pen is made from a plastic that is more dense than celluloid and the pen is apparently made from rod rather than moulded. The pen is finished in glossy Jet Black with a gold plated clip with some loss near tip. The barrel has a clear and sharp 'Selsdon Made in England' imprint and is sharply tapered at the end. The nib is marked ' W R Bruton Bros No1 Made in England'. I think the nib was gold plated but the plating has been lost. Bruton was a well known nib manufacturer in the Midlands. The pen is 14cm. capped and 15.7 cm. posted, a comfortable and substantial pen. It writes very with a fine line with hardly any flex, perhaps the nib is an accountancy nib, made for pressure when using carbon paper. All in all this is a very attractive and quite unusual pen, certainly in this condition they are hard to find. It would look good in a collection or serve well as an every day user.
