This is a set of seven Japanese Art Porcelain buttons made by Toshikane, Tokyo, Japan and they date to around the 1930's - 1940's. The longest button measures 1 inch and each button measures 3/4 inch wide approximately. On the reverse of each button you can see the flat black back with hole for attaching to a garment. Each button depicts the face of one of the seven Japanese Gods of Good Fortune and each has been hand painted in striking bright colours with great attention to detail. As you can see from the photos the buttons come with their original wooden box together with the Toshikane paper label on the front. However, the wooden box does shows considerable signs of wear and damage but fortunately this has protected the buttons. The condition of each button is very good - in fact they have never been used. There are no chips, cracks, damage or repairs to be found and the colours are bright and crisp with no loss or scratches. (Please excuse any photo flashes). This lovely set of Toshikane Art Porcelain buttons depicting the seven Japanese Gods of Good Fortune would make an ideal gift or a great addition to any collection.
