Wonderful vintage Set Thomas Mantle Clock. Unfortunately, the clock doesn't work properly. It works when you wind it, but only for about 12 hours at a time. Someone that knows how to fix the clock might be very interested in it. It has the most beautiful chime on the hour, half hour, and quarter hour. It is nearly 18" wide, 8 1/4" tall, and 4 1/2" deep. The front glass opens for winding the clock. The back wooden door opens to reveal the workings of the clock. The original Directions and Care for the clock is on the back of this door. It says, DIRECTIONS FOR WOODBURY 8 DAY KEYWOUND CLOCK WITH WESTMINSTER STRIKE AND CHIME MOVEMENT--CATALOG NO. 1302, and goes on to give instructions for use and care of the clock. On the inside the back plate of the actual clockworks says, MADE IN GERMANY FOR SETH THOMAS, A TALLEY INDUSTRIES CO. THOMASTON CONN. USA, A 401-963, TWO(2) JEWELS, 7806, UNADJUSTED. The key for winding the clock is also included. Don't forget to wind it clockwise! The case for the clock is some lovely wood (I don't know what kind), and is in very good condition. T are the normal nicks in the wood, and one place on the front w the wood is kind of cracked, but it is very minor, and not noticable without close scrutiny. It is a little bit outside of the 7 and 8, and I know I didn't get a close enough picture for you to be able to see it, because I didn't know it was t T is one gouge in the case, on the lower trim on the left hand side. It is nearly 1/2" long and not even 1/4" tall. T is a picture of it in the pictures I've included in the ad. It is on the side and down low, so it is not very noticable from the front. You would always be able to feel it (unless you had it repaired), but with a little brown shoe polish or some varnish, you probably wouldn't notice it at all. The case is not perfect, but t is nothing that I wouldn't consider normal for its age. I have no idea of the year when the clock was made. T probably are clues somew on the piece, but I don't know what to look for, and nothing was obvious to me. I know that it is a very pretty clock that I assume to be from the mid twentieth century. It works for about 12 hours at a time, and someone that is handy with these things will probably have it fixed in no time. The Westminster chimes are lovely to hear. It would make a great mantlepiece for anyone, and most likely a great addition to any collector of clocks. Take a look at the pictures and see if it's right for you.
