This auction is for a vintage Shawnee Pottery Co. Puss n Boots cookie jar. I will describe this in as much detail as possible, as i'm a novice to cookie jars and Shawnee pottery. This is one with the long tail that lays over the top of the right foot. It is charmingly decorated with flowers on its paws and shawl. The shawl, bow, and bird are all detailed with a wide brushing of gild. T is a chip under the head, and a hairline crack about a quarter inch long across from it, neither is visible with the head in place. These are shown in three of the photos. The brown trim around the hat and on the top of it seem to me to be over the glaze, though i'm not by any means an expert, it has more texture/feel to it than the other colors, and the same color paint is on the tail and sparsley on the lower back, of which i'm also unsure if it's under or over the glaze. T is als a spot of blue on one cheek, definetly feels under the glaze, that's shaped like a teardrop, but probably was not an intentional spot. It measures about 10 1/2 inches tall and 6 inches wide. I know this company was based in Zanesville, Ohio from 1936 - 1961, and another ebay listing says that Rudy Ganz designed this jar in the 1940's, so i'll guess that's right unless someone corrects me.
