You are bidding on a vintage (1940-1949) or earlier Niello silver cigarette case made in Siam. There are niello silver designs on both sides of case. The piece is unmarked , in original box with muslin sleeve. The box is marked Bangkok, Siam. The case sits in a velvet cut out holder that matches the configuration of the case perfectly. For that reason, I am confident that the case was indeed made in Siam. This is a beautiful case.

NOTE : From all appearance, this case appears to be sterling silver - it has the look and weight. However, the silver has not been tested for purity. I can only state that it is silver metal - compare to other Niello silver pieces on the internet

Condition: Case: In very good condition Free of dents or corrosion - some tarnishing Hindge and clasps works freely- shuts securely and opens and closes easily. Silver "belt" intact and securely fastened to both sides some rubbing on black surface smudges on silver on interior Box: acceptable to fair condition Cellophane tape at edges - tape has discolored Stain from tape and age inside top lid on fabric Velvet insert securely fastened to box bottom yellow ribbon running diagnolly across on end loose at one end Muslin case sleeve Brown stains from contact with cellophane tape inside box Some fraying at top edge
