Mid Century Canadian copper artist Albert GILLES handcrafted octagonal lamp in copper and wood with fiberglass shades. Two sided lamp base with pieces of copper featuring a church in landscape on one side and figural scene on other, masterfully hand hammered into the Art-Deco-design-style. The octagonal copper plaques are embedded into a maple wooden frame of same shape held by brass cylinders, on a maple rectangular truncated pyramidal base. The shade consists of fiberglass or leather-hide-parchment-like material surrounded by four pieces of hammered copper embossed with leafy branches and geometric ornaments held with brown canvas tape. Each lamp measures a substantial 28" tall from bottom to top of 12" wide, 5" deep. The shade measures approx. 11" tall, in. ( 28.5 cm ) in height by 21" long, 10.25" in depth. finial itself is 4.5" tall (may not be original).Condition: Lamp is in very good working condition. Needs cleaning. Some scratches in wood around the area where the harp meets the wood, harp and base screw are loose, a washer part may be missing because I cannot get the light fixture tight to the base, it is very loose. Repair may be needed. Some minor scratches and a few dings in the wood. Both copper panels are very good with some minor paint loss.
