Vintage Silver and Glass Carafe This vintage glass carafe wears a 2 1/4" silver filigree neckband attached to a curved, ornamented, floating silver handle. T is a removable silver lid with a stylized berry-vine finial. It sits in a silver stand with a 2" ornamented bellyband supported by three ornamented silver legs that are attached to a silver saucer at the feet. Unique Silver Chafing Dish On the saucer sits a removable silver cup 1-3/4" in diameter by 1-1/4" high. It has a lid through which a wick extends. The cup can be filled with fuel and the burning wick keeps the tea or coffee warm. I have seen a number of these carafes on ebay but absolutely never with the matching, original silver chafing cup, wick and lid. One Owner -- a 1962 Wedding Gift Although I have no photos or card or proof of this, I can tell you that the actress, Rosemary De Camp, who was my neighbor in Hollywood Riviera, California, gave this carafe to me as a wedding present in 1962. I am the original owner. Dimensions The graceful glass carafe is 9" high and 5 1/2" wide at the bowl. It can serve 6 1/2 cups of coffee, tea or any hot liquid. When sitting in its stand the glass and silver carafe is 14" tall. Markings The underside of the silver saucer bears the stamp, ENGLISH SILVER MFG. CO. and MRRS (or possibly M & RS). I believe it is sterling but it might read more
