Vintage Silver Doctor Bag Mechanical Charm I love the English vintage mechanical charms and I bought several great vintage bracelets filled with charms when I was in England in November. I decided to list a few of the most interesting this week, in case any of you are looking for presents for either you or other charm collectors among your friends and family. I have had several MD doctor bag charms both American and English--with a baby inside and one with safety pins but this is the first one I have had with an apple. It took me a while to figure out what I was looking at until I remembered: "An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away". I never clean my vintage charms so this one has some dark marks inside the bag but I assume they would clean up if you like to clean your charms. The bag measures 5/8 inches high by 5/8 inches wide and roughly ¼ inch thick. Inside the bag t is a plate with an apple and what might be a piece of cheese or a sandwich. Like many vintage sterling silver English charms it is marked SILVER on the inside of the bag. If you collect interesting English mechanicals or if you are trying to put together a collection of unusual doctor bags this might make a good addition to your collection.
