Vintage Singer 221 Featherweight sewing machine with case and foot pedal. Machine does NOT run. Hopefully it could be repaired or used for parts. The light and motor do turn on when the machine is plugged in and the foot pedal is pressed but the needle assembly does not move up and down. The needle assembly does move freely when it is manually pushed up. The thread takeup lever does NOT move. Serial number is AK787389. This Machine's paint is in very good shape. The only issue that I see with the paint is a place on the bottom front ledge w it has rubbed off and silver shows through - this can be seen in the closeup photo. The gold decals are in excellent shape - with only a very slight rubbed off area in the back on the lift up tray from wear. T is some tape residue on the bed of the machine which I did not try to remove. The light works, the motor runs, the presser bar lifter raises and lowers the foot. Also included with this machine is the Foot pedal. It works fine. T is one spot on the cord w the outer rubber has been rubbed off with a small amount of exposed wire - see closeup photo. Also included with this machine is the original case. One of the closures is broken - silver push button is missing on the left closure when facing the box- see closeup photo. Overall the case is in very good shape with some fabric covering worn off on the corners - the rest is in good shape - see photos. T is a slight musty smell inside the box - could use a good airing. This machine came from my sister-in-law's mother. I have the original purchase reciept and payment coupons from Sept 4, 1953. The machine cost $159.00 (not including $3.18 sales tax and a carrying charge of $22.04). $20 was put down and payments of $6.84 were made for 24 months. I'll include copies of these documents if the buyer wants them.
