Up for sale today is a very nice Singer Model 478 sewing machine with straight stitch, zig-zag stitch and decorative stitch capability. NOTE: THIS MACHINE HAS A BRAND NEW TOP VERTICAL GEAR. I just installed it myself and I mention that because the knock on these older non-black Singers is that the old nylon gears disintegrate. When I got this machine, the gear was shot so I replaced it and also cleaned, lubricated and checked out the machine thoroughly. Now I don't have a manual or any extra presser feet or even any extra flat cams (one installed in the machine) for decorative stitches but those things are plentiful on ebay. Any side mount low vertical shank presser foot will fit this machine and reproduction manual suppliers are plentiful. This sewing machine is in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition. It uses standard 15x1 needles and common Class 66 drop-in bobbins. The electrical cords and foot control are like new. Included also is its original case. T is one very minor crack in the top and a few bumps or bruises on the case itself. Not bad for a machine that was made between 1969 and 1972.
Please email me before you buy with any questions or requests. This machine is ready to go right out of the box and with a new part that is critical to continued long life. Please use the shipping calculator to determine your charges and carrier. Insurance is required and all shipping/insurance charges are to be paid by the buyer. Thanks for looking at my auction and I hope you will buy. If desired, I can hold the machine and mail it after the holidays so it won't be involved in the shipping crunch time. That is up to the buyer.
