For your bidding consideration is a 1946 Singer model 128 serial number AG862250 made in Elizabeth, New Jersey. You will note the "black" parts which are really blued, a rust preventative process commonly used on rifles and pistols but was used by many manufacturers in WWII when chrome was in short supply. Although this and many other machines made after the war sport the blued finish I can assume that Singer either liked the look, felt it was nostalgic or simply had the parts left over. In any case, I have never seen a completly blued machine and this one is no exception as there are some chrome parts. As you may see, the bentwood case is in excellent condition, it was made from American Walnut and this one has a solid base, most others I have seen have a veneered base. There is a key, the lock does work. I have re-wired the entire machine adding a long twelve foot power cord so no need to get the extension cord out or have to place the machine right on an outlet; added a new cord to the foot pedal and new wire up to the light. I have replaced the light bulb, the drive belt, the bobbin tire and added a new felt to the thread post. I have diss-assembled this machine about thirty-five percent, cleaning each part and making adjustments where necessary. I have oiled and sewn with this machine and I frankly like it a lot.
