Beautiful tubular Sofa and Chair from the 1930s / 40s . Some say Gilbert Rohde designed these, others Kem Weber, for Lloyd Furniture although this set has lost its label. Either way, this pair will look great in a streamline moderne, art deco, bauhaus or mid-century modern home. When I bought this pair many years ago, I was told it came directly from an old photo studio waiting room in Buffalo, NY. Does not seem to have had much use (or abuse) over the years. The pair would be a perfect match with the industrial designs of Walter Von Nessen, Donald Deskey, Norman Bel Geddes, Paul Frankl, Russel Wright, William Lezcase or Richard Neutra. Completely original and in wonderful condition . Cushions are the original vintage ones with air ducts and are heavy and solid with an early vinyl or oil cloth type upholstery. Note how the color of the sofa becomes the piping on the chair and the color of the chair is used for the piping of the sofa - a nice effect. Condition is near excellent. Chrome is shiny and clear with minimal wear or loss (mostly w close to the floor). Slight chrome loss in spots on the arms and armrest endcaps (which also have a few spots of rust). Cushions are clean and bright. The only flaws are a 1/4" crack on the chair cushion that is barely noticeable and a 6" surface scratch on one of the sofa cushions which is minor. None of these flaws detract from the appearance or use and are disclosed for accuracy of description. Acknowledgement of winning bid expected as soon as possible; payment must be received within 10 days after completion of the auction or else sale will be considered void and negative feedback may result. Payment is due prior to delivery or pick-up. This set is located in the New York City metro area (New Haven). Delivery to this metro area can be arranged for an additional charge. Please email with your location for an exact and reasonable quote. All others must arrange their own shipping but I will be happy to work with you and your shipper. I have moved to a smaller space so I want these fantastic pieces to find an appreciative owner who will enjoy them as much as I have! I also have two tubular and maple tables that go with this set that I will be selling in the next week or so. The winning bidder will be able to purchase these as well if interested.
