This and a few other rare devotional vintage and antique Milagros, have been consigned to us for auction by one of the convents we work with in Peru . We will provide the winning bidder with the provenance of each piece upon request. You are bidding on the one I am holding, not the statue in the picture, or the one on the statue.

This Milagro represents the sufferings of Mother Mary and the Sacrifice of her Son Jesus. These were special ordered hand made silver devotional pieces, given as gifts to the local parish church after a prayer or miracle was granted. It is a traditional form of thanksgiving still today by practicing Catholics in South America; a tradition that was brought over from Europe .

These pieces are rare because most were melted down for fundraising, or to make a new Chalice or Monstrance at the end of each year. The convents we work with have found a few in storage and they will all be auctioned over the next 60 days.

This one is 5 inches by 5 inches in size and it weighs 52 grams.
