My Dad was in the army in the early 1950's, stationed in Germany. He brought back tons of stuff and I believe that's where he got this knife. I have heard this type of knife referred to as a Boy Scout Knife. I've never seen a Boy Scout carry anything like this, but I don't really know for sure. On the handle there's a red diamond with a fleur de lis in it and on the blade, on the same side, it says Solingen Germany. On the other side of the blade there's a symbol of some kind and PIC. The sheath has Made in Germany written on it, on one side and on the bottom part of the other side, it says DBGM. The sheath needs cleaning and some kind of leather conditioner on it, I think. This is a very heavy knife. Dad didn't have it very sharp, but it could be sharpened, I'm sure. In the first photo, you can see a touch of green near where the handle connects to the blade. I didn't see that until after I took the photo, but I popped it off with my fingernail. The knife needs some cleaning and polishing, but is in good shape, really. There's a line down the blade on both sides that I have no clue about. It's not a scratch because you can't feel it with your fingertips. I don't know what caused it. I also noticed that one of the rivets or whatever those little places that hold the diamond-designed cover on the handle are, has some damage on both sides. I don't remember seeing Dad ever use this knife, so I have no idea what caused it, but I took pictures so you can see it. The sheath is in good shape except for one place on the back. Where the top part is riveted onto the part where the blade goes, there's a little corner of the leather that has broken off. You can see that in photo # 9. It sounds like there's a lot of problems with this knife, but really they aren't that big a deal. I just like to mention every little thing because I don't like surprising people when I sell things. If you live in a foreign country, I'd have to check with the post office about shipping knives before I could give a shipping charge or say whether I could sell or not. I expect payment within 3 days of the end of the auction. If there is a problem when you receive the item, contact me immediately so that we can work it out.
