You are bidding on a very collectible "Solitaire" brand Peanut Butter tin. The "Solitaire" brand, manufactured in Denver, Colorado is a very collectible item to collect. The Solitaire company grew to an organization employing roughly 500 people in Denver and in its eighteen branches in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Nebraska. In 1902, Morey started the Solitaire Brand, which became the company's top seller in top quality canned goods. Canned fruits, vegetables, and coffee started the line. Items were added from time to time, including such varied products as matches, cigars, writing tablets, brooms, jar rings and a complete assortment of food products such as cereals, fish, cheese, and macaroni.Solitaire canned many, many staples in can including such products as coffee, sugar, tea, peanut butter--to name a few. Many of their tins were utilitarian wherein they could also be used when empty as a measuring utensil. In the case of this tin, you will see measuring units of 1 tea cup, 1/2 tea cup, 1/2 pint, and1/4 pint printed on the back outside of this unique tin. The size of this wonderful tin is 2 1/2 inches high and 3 1/2 inches in diameter. There are some scuff marks where the exterior paint is missing, but the overall appearance is very good.
