This auction is for a very nice, old primitive wood basket called a "trug". It was used for gathering many things such as flowers or for other chores. I recently saw one very much like this while watching "Pride and Prejudice" on Masterpiece Theatre. Miss Elizabeth and Miss Jane Bennett were cutting flowers in the garden and placing them in the basket. I must tell you it is one of my favorites ( "Pride and Prejudice"). I don't have it memorized yet, but am working on it. Let me get back to the basket before I am further sidetracked. I am not sure if this is English or American made. I hesitate to call it antique but do think it has lots of age on it. The piece is larger than most I have seen on Ebay. It is approximately 16" long, 9 3/4" wide including the handle and 9 1/2" tall including support beams on bottom through top of handle. It is in very good, vintage condition. It has old nails and the wood pieces appear to be hand cut. It is all sturdy including the handle. You may want to oil it or clean it up more. I did not do much to it. If I have left out information that is important to you, please feel free to ask questions. T is not a reserve on this auction but it does have a "Buy it Now" price.
