I took some of the pics inside and some outside in the sunshine, so you could see it under a variety of lights. Low start bid, no reserve, low starting bid is in no way reflective of the quality or value of this item, just an attempt to keep my listing fees down, you the bidder will decide what it is worth. thanks. One of the reasons Stangl pottery is so popular today is their "Birds of America" line of pottery birds. In general these birds were roughly based upon John Audubon's "Birds of America" series of prints and most designed by Auguste Jacob. They were introduced in 1940 and were immediately popular. By the late 1940s the introduction of new birds was reduced until only a few new ones were being introduced every 2-3 years. The last new birds were introduced in 1955, and these birds were produced in limited quantites. the pottery closed in 1978. Stangl Pottery birds are very collectible and a treasure to behold and a pleasure to own. Insurance will be required. Now for the boring but important details: Email with ?. From The Collectors Encyclopedia of Stangl by Robert C. Runge Jr. I was able to find out that the artist or decorator as they were called for this bird was Ida French,( Initials on the bird, IFF, the last F is for Flemington), Also the bird was produced 1954-1955 estimated value $425-$525+, and that some of these later bird introductions are among the most rare and valuable of Stangl's bird figurines.
