Vintage Stanley Bailey No. 112 Cabinet Scraper Plane (Dating from 1893-1899) Up for auction is an outstanding early vintage Stanley Bailey No. 112 Scraper Plane. The bed is marked with an "S" foundry mark (found on planes dating from 1893 to 1899) and " No 112 ". The 112 cabinet scrapers were first made in 1885 so this one dates within about about 15 years of that. The blade is 5 inches long and unmarked, which is common for this period . The casting and mouth are free of chips, breaks, and repairs. The cheeks and sole have a nice aged patina with some pitting, primarily on the sole. The plane is virtually free of rust with approximately 90-95% of the japanning remaining. The rosewood tote and knob are particularly beautiful with only very light toolbox dings. The knob also has a 1/4" long scratch/scar that should be visible in the photos and one extremely fine check at the base. The brass hardware has been cleaned but not polished and has no markings. Far too old and nice for the workshop (in my opinion), this would make an excellent addition to any mancave collection. I do my best to describe thoroughly but please look carefully at the photos as they further illustrate condition and the physical characteristics of this item and feel free to ask questions.
