You are looking at a vintage 20" long miter box made in the USA by Stanley Tool. This vintage miter box wa produced before the side tags were introduced, so it is refered to as the Pat. 1904 model. This piece has for patent dates on the face of the gauge, and they are 1-12-04, 3-15-04, 8-2-04, & 9-27-04. It only reads "Stanley" on the saw guides. The saw guides can be adjusted and locked at the top to set the work, and then released with a finger lever on each guide. This piece features a movable saw guide that can be set for any angle between 90 degrees and 45 degrees. with 13 positive lock points along the way. (6ea. side plus 0). The bed is 20" long and can handle up to roughly a 8" piece. This piece has a sacrificial wooden bed plate that can be changed with screws underneath. The Previous owner did not mortise in the holder guides, and the piece only has one work holder as the other was not with the miter box. It can be acquired on line if you use them. This miter box has been repainted and cleaned. It works very well and has no oxidation or pitting. It is a great piece for the collector or the wood working enthusiast.I will ship via Parcel Select Mail as soon as cleared payment is received.
