This vintage Steamer Trunk appears to be made mostly of laminated wood in dark green. The corners and latches are some type of ferous metal with brass coating. (A magnet is attracted to these areas.) This trunk was purchased at an estate sale and was reported to have been owned by one family for well over fifty years. We cannot give an exact date of manufacture for the trunk but we would surmise it to be from the first half of the twentieth century. Our trunk measures approximately 26" high, 39" wide, and 22" deep. When opened, the inside of the trunk has a depth of 21". As you can see from the photos, the trunk does show signs of wear and storage but it is still a most viable item with great potential. The lock is missing and one of the side leather handles has broken. The top is well-hinged and, overall, the trunk is extremely sturdy. This trunk has a multitude of uses and could be cleaned up, repaired and possibly refurbished to make a very special piece of furniture and/or storage area.
