This is the largest and longest alligator Steiff ever made. Online references to the date of creation for this Gaty vary from 1950s to early 1970s. Even the Margaret Fox Mandel books don't assign a period of time for it. In any case it is a rare and desirable Steiff animal that doesn't come along very often.He has a few small flaws: He appears to have a repair over right eye. His felt claws are all present but some are worn off more than others. There is a slight kink in his tail.Gaty no longer has his tag and button but he is a very well documented Steiff animal.
