Sea Turtle Group Brooch & Post Earrings Sterling & Enamel This listing is an offering of a pin and two post style earrings depicting a group of sea turtles. The animals are perfectly rendered and flawlessly enameled. The brooch is clearly marked "S925." The mark indicates the set is sterling silver and was made in Scandinavian, most likely by a Norwegian silversmith. . The set depicts a mother sea turtle swimming with her baby (attached to her by two jump rings) while a tropical fish follows behind (connected by a single jump ring to the Mom's tail.) The shell of both pin turtles is a separate piece of metal, significantly enhancing the realistic portrayal. Enamel is carefully applied in large cells on the turtle shells and in tiny cells on their fins/feet, head, and tail. The colors used include chartreuse, turquoise, and Prussian blue. The turtles depicting in the earrings have cells on their shells only and fewer shades of color owing to their much smaller size. The trailing fish is primarily white with black stripes. It is painted on both sides! The mother is 1 ¾" long. The total pin height including both mother and baby turtle is 1 ¼". The post earrings are 5/8" across at most. The pin mechanism has a safety clasp. T is also an attached ring so the brooch can be worn as a pendant. The combination of sentimental subjects, beautiful workmanship, pristine condition, and the Scandinavian mark make this set a very good investment - an heirloom to wear!
