This vintage rosary has 5 9 genuine jade beads. I could not capture it in a photo, but the beads are the most exquisite shade of pale green and are somewhat translucent. They have a bit of a luminous glow to them and are extraordinary. In direct light, they have a beautiful pale jade hue, in indirect light they are a blue/green. The rosary measures 4 0" in length! with a 20" hanging length. The cross measures 2 inches x 1.5 inches.
INRI is above Jesus's head on the cross. INRI is an acronym of the Latin phrase that Pontius Pilate had written over the head of Jesus on the cross : ESVS NAZARENVS REX IVDAEORVM, which translates to English as: "Jesus the Nazarene, the King of the Jews" . The chain, bead caps and the figure of Jesus are silver, the crossJesus is connected to is just some sort of silver metal. This is fromaround the 1940s. The Jade is beautiful and a bit translucent. This is an exquisite Rosary! The Medal of the Immaculate Conception, commonly called the Miraculous Medal, was manifested to a spiritual daughter of St. Vincent de Paul, St Catherine Laboure. This took place in the chapel of the Mother house of the Sisters of Charity, 140 rue de Bac, Paris, France.
Sister Catherine, during her novitiate days, received extraordinary favors from God, such as visions of the heart of St. Vincent and manifestations of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. In 1830 she was blessed with the apparitions of Mary Immaculate to which we owe the Miraculous Medal.

On November 27, 1830, Mary, the Mother of Jesus, appeared in a vision to Catherine Laboure, a novice in the Sisters of Charity convent in Paris, France. Our Lady manifested the pattern of a medal to Cathe ri ne. Mary promised that "All who wear it will receive great graces; they should wear it around the neck. Graces will abound for those who wear it with confidence."

The metal shows Mary on the front, surrounded by the crown of thorns. On the back is a "M" with a cross going through it, and a halo going around it, surrounded by 12 stars to represent the 12 tribes and 12 apostles.
