Vintage sterling silver Indian Coin Inset Dishes - Cased These beautiful dishes originated in India and have scalloped edges, a band of exquisite embossing depicting flora, foliage and elephants, and the bases are inset with coins depicting deities. They are presented in a purpose-made case with white silk lining to the lid and black velvet to the base. Each dish is stamped ‘Sterling Silver’ and my tests verify that they are high grade silver and I will fully guarantee them as such. These were a presentation gift from the ‘Indian National Shipowners’ Association’ of Bombay and the original card is still in the case. Unfortunately, I cannot determine their age. The dishes are in superb condition with no dents, dints or signs of wear that I can find and the embossing is crisp and clear. The silk lining of the case is very clean although the black velvet base does have some ring stain marks which, I think, have been caused by silver polish. The outer case does have some minor scuffing and some cracking along the top and bottom edges. To the bottom, the cracking has led to one side and half the front edge coming away from the sides. Approximate Measurements Dishes Diameter - 10.5 cm (4 1/8”) Weight - 96.8 grams (combined weight of both dishes) Case Length - 25.3 cm (10”) Width - 12.6 cm (5”) Depth - 3.8 cm (1 1⁄2 “) Weight
