Rare Vintage Scottish Hand Made Sterling Silver Sauce Ladle from The Isle of Mull Silver Co This Rare Vintage Sauce or Serving Ladle measures approximately 4 3/4 inches or 121 mm in length from the top of the handle to the front lip of the bowl by just over 3/8 of an inch or 10 mm across the widest part of the upper handle from side to side and it is 1 7/8 inches or 48 mm across the widest part of the bowls upper rim. The ladle is hand made from sterling silver with a shaped twist decorated handle that has a flat oval terminal and it has an oval shaped bowl that has a raised rat tail or extended lower handle on the back, the sauce or serving ladle has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or or family monogram all as photographed below and the back of the handle has been impressed with a full set of Scottish sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows, P D over A C - Lion Rampant - Castle - stylized M P D over A C is the Scottish silversmith or makers mark of Philip D A Campbell of the Isle of Mull Silver Company who worked in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, the Lion Rampant is the mark of Scottish 925 standard sterling silver, the Castle is the mark of the Edinburgh assay office and the stylized letter M is the date letter for 1986.
