Features: This is a very nice vintage (1950's up to 1960 c) collectible heavy ring . It's made for man but could also be for man or woman. Made of both sterling silver and solid 14K gold of Blackhills tri-gold : Green , rose yellow and red.Gold portions are a significant amount, consisting of heavy raised eagle , soldered on top and 6 other raised motif of leafs. Also, has rectangle cabochon cut black onyx stone of very good quality. Stone's in great shape, ignore slight dust. Stone is approx 1.1 cts . Ring is highly collectible . Of 'old pawn', beautifully Native American indian hand crafted by multiple award winning jewelry artist Benard Dallasvuyaoma, (husband of multi-award winning Hopi jewelry artist Dorothy Dallasvuyaoma). He designed in mid 1950's to 1960, for international exports, and incorporated his shop with his wife in 1960 (both active as a team during the 1960's). Has very impressive smith workmanship in an eye catching tribal pattern with raised gold eagle motif and 6 raised gold leaf motifs. Has very nice hand chased detail. Onyx stone is approx 1.5 cts . Ring is relevantly heavy . Weighs: 11.4 grams of which its solid 14K gold weighs approx 3 grams , approx 4.6 penny weights . (As a jeweler, gold weight estimation's based on weighing similar loose ends of approx same size and mass . (For gold is a heavier metal than sterling). Ring was very well kept and in excellent condition. Auction starting price is very reasonly low, based on precious metals weight, especially from this well sought out Hopi artist in a fine well hand crafted jewelry product . Ring Size: Ring looks impressive on most fingers. Although ring is a size 10, it should also fit size 9.5 without significant shifting, based on its thick rear shank. For those in other countries such as the UK, Ireland, and AU, size 10 is size T 1/2 and will also fit size S 1/2 and size T . Also, consider that right hand fingers tend to be a little thicker than left hand fingers, (same principle applies if left handed). Measurements: Square shaped top portion is a little over 2/3 inch by a little over 2/3 inch . From where ring rests on finger top to top of raised gold eagle is 6 mm . Shank's shoulder width is a little over 1/2 inch with shank widths tapering from about 1/3 inch, 1/4 inch and nearly 1/4 inch (5.5) mm in center back. Black onyx stone is 14 mm by 12 mm with depth of approx 1 mm . Hallmarks, Marks , and Authencity: On one side of inner shank, has both sterling and 14K gold marks of his earlier export sterling mark ".925" and 14K gold mark "14K " (gold mark more slanted, located more toward middle, beneath sterling mark). Also, has with his stacked conjoined DD mark. His mark can be authenticated on page 104 of research author Bille Hougarts "Little Book of Marks on Southwestern Silver" where author lists him of the Hopi tribe, of course. I routinely test prior to listing, regardless of what's marked . Would make a nice gift.
